LIVING WELL & LOVING LIFE

The portable oxygen concentrator was designed for those tired of being tethered to an hourglass, counting the seconds before their liquid oxygen runs out.  At Lifestyle Medical Supplies, we believe that fully living starts with worrying less, which is why we only work with the best manufacturers, and Inogen is at the top of the list.

ABOUT INOGEN

Inogen was founded in 2001 with the goal of finding a beloved grandmother, Mae, a solution that would help her have more freedom and independence. After Mae was prescribed oxygen in 2000, she struggled to accept her new reality of carrying an endless supply of oxygen tanks wherever she went.  During Christmas, she took a nine-hour road trip to visit relatives. Her family had to plan each moment meticulously to ensure she would not run out of air. During her trip, Mae constantly asked, “Why isn’t there a better solution?” In October 2004, Mae was prescribed the very first Inogen. What did she think? “Better than anything I could have ever hoped for.” At Lifestyle Medical Supplies, we provide the best medical equipment that will offer the freedom to live life on your terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you an authorized dealer?

Yes. Lifestyle Medical Supplies is an authorized dealer.

Can I sleep with the Inogen One G4?

The Inogen One G4 is a pulse flow oxygen concentrator with settings that range from 1-3.  The unit is designed with Intelligent Oxygen Delivery technology meaning it will synch to the rhythm of your breathing. The concentrator is designed to increase each pulse amount if the unit detects a shallow breath to ensure you are receiving enough oxygen. The majority of patients are able to sleep comfortably with this technology.

Each patient is unique,  it’s always best to check with your doctor prior to sleeping with a portable oxygen concentrator. If you’re using a Cpap or Bipap at night you will need a continuous flow portable unit.

This unit is designed to be used 24/7

As long as the batteries are charged and the unit is plugged in, you can use the unit 24/7.

Can I take my Portable Oxygen Concentrator to the mountains?

Can I take my Portable Oxygen Concentrator on an Airplane?

Yes. All the Portable Oxygen Concentrators from Lifestyle Medical Supplies are approved by the Airlines (FAA approved) for in-flight use.

For a seamless trip, follow these tips:

Physician Appointment

Your physician will play a significant role in your pre-flight preparation. Before your scheduled flight,

  • Discuss your oxygen needs with your physician.
  • You’ll need to get a physician’s statement expressing your medical requirement to use oxygen. Although the FAA doesn’t require you to obtain a physician’s statement, many individual air carriers do.
  • Copy of your oxygen prescription

What to bring on the plane?

  • Copy of your oxygen prescription
  • 150% of battery life for your prescribed flow rate
  • Extra Cannulas
  • Extra Filter

FAA Compliance

The FAA has a detailed document that outlines the on-flight compliance requirements for using a portable oxygen concentrator. View Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for the use of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) onboard aircraft.

  1. FAA Approval

Be sure to always double-check with the airline itself for their individual rules and regulations regarding in-flight oxygen concentrator usage. For your convenience please see links to the most popular airlines below:

American Airlines       Mobility and Medical Devices

United                         Portable Oxygen Concentrators

  1. Battery Requirements

One critical point to remember is having enough battery power for your device. The overall principle to follow is this: Never rely on aircraft electrical power to charge your device during a flight.

Airlines and the FAA require you to bring sufficient batteries to power your device for at least 150% of the expected maximum flight duration. For example, if your flight is supposed to be 10 hours long, your batteries should be charged enough to last 15 hours.

Spare rechargeable batteries carried onboard must be individually protected from short circuits by either keeping them in their original package, insulating terminals by taping over the exposed terminals, or by placing each battery in a separate plastic bag. Spare batteries are prohibited from being carried in checked baggage on an aircraft.
